Kwong Siew Wai Kuan was a Cantonese association founded by Wong Ah Fook in 1878. In 1902, Wong donated two shophouses on Jalan Siu Nam for its use. In 1907, the association set Yok Choy School, one of the first of Chinese clan schools in Johor.[1] Classes were held in the premises of the association and since lessons were taught in Cantonese, the pupils were drawn largely from the Cantonese community.
